We dream of poverty being a thing of the past in Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole. To begin to turn that dream into a possibility, the wisdom of those who struggle against poverty needs to be part of the solution. Many others share that belief, but in practice it can be tough to do well.
Alongside our second Poverty Truth Commission for Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole, we have been invited to develop the Wisdom Lab to take our learnings beyond the remit of the Commission. Wisdom Lab is being developed and led by the wisdom of Community Commissioners from the first Poverty Truth Commission and aims to help others learn from the experiences of those who know the struggle against poverty. It will support teams and organisations who share our commitment to that approach and want to grow the way they do it.

Poverty Truth Wisdom Lab offers:
- Learning spaces in Poverty Awareness: training for frontline staff and volunteers to better equip them to work more compassionately & effectively, co-facilitated by those with lived experience of poverty (Community Commissioners).
- Learning spaces in Poverty Truth ways of working: helping organisations to grow the quality and effectiveness of their work with experts by experience, using fresh yet proven approaches including authentically including those with lived experience; shifting power; building relationships; humanising processes; enabling space for long-term thinking; slowing down.
- A reverse mentoring programme: giving the opportunity for local leaders to gain wisdom from someone with lived experience of the struggle against poverty to inform their own practice.
